The Walrus is the sort of CBD café you end up relying on without thinking about it. Big windows pull in the morning light, there is a hum of grinders and conversation, and the front counter keeps a steady rhythm of takeaway orders for commuters while the dining room turns over quickly. It feels welcoming the moment you step in, with polished timber, greenery tucked along the walls, and a short wait that never feels like a hassle because staff greet you fast and point you to a table or suggest the best spot if you are flying solo with a laptop. Coffee is confidently handled. The house blend lands rich and chocolatey for milk drinks, while a rotating single origin brings a brighter, fruitier edge if you are going long black or batch brew. Milk is textured well, alternative options are treated with the same care, and iced versions arrive cold and clean rather than watery. Breakfast runs from simple to indulgent. A bacon and egg roll gets lifted by a tangy house relish and soft milk bun, the chilli scramble has the right amount of heat and a fresh herb finish, and the mushroom toast comes piled high with garlic, thyme and a neat squeeze of lemon. If you want something lighter there are granola bowls and fresh pastries that actually taste baked that morning. Service stays upbeat even when the room is full. Water appears quickly, small requests are handled without fuss, and food lands in good time. It is an easy stop before a meeting, a relaxed spot for a late brunch, and a reliable place to grab a takeaway on the run. Prices sit right for the CBD, portions are fair, and the overall feel is calm and competent in the best way.

They have a lovely avocado toast and good coffee. The cornflakes-coated french toast was very pretty and served with a generous dollop of non-sweetened mascarpone cream and berries. Could do with less maple flavored syrup though. Very friendly staff and great service!

Visited The Walrus Café for lunch and here’s we ordered: Corn Fritters ($24.50) The fritters were soft and tasty with fresh corn. It also came with halloumi, avocado (which was generous in serving!), poached eggs, and a little bit of red sauce - not sure what it exactly was but could be more! Something about the batter didn’t sit right with me — overall, this would be a 3/5 for me. Breakfast Roll ($15) Was average and a “affordable” meal (by Sydney cafe standards, but wouldn’t order again. 2.5/5 Would def visit this place again, but would probably try other things instead! They had a special menu that seemed to have a Vietnamese influence to it, so would be keen to try that next time 😙

The breakfast options are pretty good. They serve what you'd expect from a café with a slight twist with each. Their coffee is great.

Good range of food and cakes /croissants and good coffee. Nice indoor and outdoor set up. Espresso coffee is good, also a range of interesting latte variations and special meals (which I didn't try). Had the Spanish eggs which were very good and in the sizzling pan.. Lots of bread... nice!

The Walrus Cafe has become my reliable breakfast destination whenever I'm in Sydney for work. It's a lovely little cafe that consistently delivers on quality and service. What immediately stands out are the generous serving sizes. The food is solid, but what really sets this place apart are the freshly squeezed juices. The orange juice is excellent, but if you're feeling adventurous, I highly recommend trying the Sunrise juice - it's absolutely worth the upgrade! The service is both fast and friendly. The staff are always welcoming and efficient. The location is hard to beat - right in the heart of the CBD, making it incredibly convenient for business travelers or anyone working in the area.

I absolutely loved this place for breakfast. I went here for my first breakfast in Sydney, tried a different place the second day and then came back her the remaining four days I was in town because it was so good! I had the avo delight, açaí bowl and muesli with fruit and yogurt. All three were delicious but avo delight was my favorite. Had flat whites with oat milk to drink. Service was fast and the food was delicious. Highly recommmend.
